Meet Jameka
Jameka Vessels is the Social and Emotional Learning Coordinator at Streamline Wellness Center.
She has been with the organization since 2022, where she leads and facilitates Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) programming for youth in Richmond Public Schools, primarily serving communities in Richmond’s East End. In her role, she creates safe and engaging spaces for students to build emotional awareness, strengthen coping skills, and develop positive peer relationships. She also co-facilitates the We Matter program, a gun violence prevention initiative launched under the leadership of Levar Stoney, where she works to empower youth, promote conflict resolution, and encourage healthier decision-making. She also contributes to the development of curriculum and supports planning, coordinating, and implementing social-emotional learning (SEL) programming while collaborating with community partners.
Jameka earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health, Physical Education, and Exercise Science from Virginia Commonwealth University, with a minor in Psychology. Her academic background, combined with her hands-on experience, has equipped her with the skills to effectively support youth development and address social and emotional challenges in school and community settings. She is deeply passionate about advancing health equity, mental wellness, and creating opportunities for underserved populations. Jameka plans to further her education by pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Health Equity and Social Justice at George Mason University.
